“Living without a lot of things is refreshing.”
– Estelle Scannella
The speed with which Estelle chose Homestead surprised even herself. “I usually do a lot of research before I make a decision,” she said, “but I wrote a check immediately.”
Turns out to be one of the best things she’s done for herself.
A law office manager for more than 30 years, Estelle is both an organizer and a planner. “I usually take my time to make a decision, but Homestead seemed to have everything I was looking for: a great location, plus it’s a lease, not a buy-in.” She feels that gives her flexibility and control over both her finances and her future. Estelle lived in a 55+ active adult community before moving to Homestead at Hamilton. “It was nice, but who needs a house with all those rooms,” she said.
“Downsizing from a house can be difficult, but my advice is ‘say goodbye and let it go.’ Living without a lot of things is refreshing.” She didn’t want to be stuck in a house at the 55+ community. She liked that Homestead is a rental and not a purchase, so she is free to come and go as she pleases.
Originally from the Hamilton area, she still has a lot of friends in the area and likes that she can come and go as she pleases. “I have my own car here so that gives me a lot of freedom.” She doesn’t drive at night but can take advantage of the scheduled transportation Homestead offers. Active adult communities are often populated with couples, but at Homestead she could find a lot of single friends. Estelle exercises every day and participates in many of the classes offered at Homestead. “If you take advantage of all the programs and amenities here you can stay busy all day.”
“I feel like I have more freedom here. The food is quite good, management is attentive, and I feel as though I’m in control. I feel like I have real purpose here.”
